" I dropped him off that morning and he was pouting."
"My son Mark attended your
Biology Lab Intensive. He's in 8th grade and hasn't been
especially interested in science. I asked him if he wanted
to attend your intensive and he said no. I told him he was
going to because we needed to get his labs done and this was
a good way to do that."
"I dropped him off that
morning and he was pouting. I picked him up that afternoon
and he talked incessantly on the way home (this is my quiet
child). It not only amazed me that he was so excited about
science but that he loved doing this all day for two solid
days. That kind of excitement in a child brings so much joy
to a mother's heart. He also loved your 'real life lessons'
talk. Thank you so much Greg for your ministry to our
children!"
Beth (a grateful mom)

"My 7th and 10th grade
children loved your Intensive and they're begging me to
attend the College-Prep Writing Intensive - I just registered..."

Greetings Parents and Students,
As a former college professor and
homeschool dad, I'm passionate about teaching science. In
particular, my passion is teaching Christ-centered Anatomy &
Physiology, Biology, and Microbiology Labs to homeschooled
students. For our Biology Lab Intensive, I have the privilege of
interacting with 7th-12th grade students for 16 hours over
two days as we
cover wide-ranging and in depth, college-prep, Anatomy &
Physiology, Biology, and Microbiology Labs. God is glorified
as we explore His Creation in depth.
Our Chemistry, Writing, and Physical
Science Intensives are led by a teachers who love the Lord,
have expertise in their area, and are excited about teaching
young people. In the Chemistry and Physical Science
Intensives, students will do hands-on labs, many of them
beyond the scope of what most high school students ever
experience. They will also learn to write college-quality
lab reports and to think critically as a scientist. They'll
work hard, laugh, talk about serious topics, have fun, and
finish the two day lab intensive with a jam-packed lab
manual representing their work. The Writing Intensives are 16 hours of instruction designed to
give students competence in the areas of writing that
are often stumbling blocks for students.
Parents may issue school credit for these as they deem appropriate.
The Science Lab Intensives (Biology, Chemistry, & Physical
Science) each cover a school year of labs for that subject. The
Writing Intensives are usually
credited as a semester of class.
Regardless of which intensive(s)
they attend, students will spend two action-packed,
knowledge and skill building days in a caring, fun,
Christ-centered
environment.
Please don't hesitate to
contact me if you have questions.
In His Service,
Greg

"A
Refreshing Change"
"Greg, what a refreshing
change it was to see all those kids having so much fun with
high school science. And, it was so wonderful to get so much
done in two days. Katie didn't know what to expect but loved
the experience. She said you immediately put them at ease
and the time flew by. In fact, her first question to me
after the second day was if she could do another intensive.
Science in our household has been reinvigorated - thank
you!"

"My children,
Logan & Taylor Baker, attended your science intensive for
Biology while you were here. Logan was so excited and Taylor
was the kicking and screaming one. She really never kicks
and screams, but her attitude was not one of complete
willingness. Anyway, they both thoroughly enjoyed the
experience and have continued to talk about it and show off
their "deliveries" to anyone who will look at them! Fun,
fun, fun!!! I love it:-)"

College-Prep Writing Intensive
Length: 2 Days. First day is 9:00 am - 6:00 pm. Second day is 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.
Lunch will be provided on site each day as part of the lab
intensive.
- Students may commute from home
each day or families may find local accommodations.
Prerequisites: There are no prerequisites.
Suggested Student Grade Range: 7th - 12th
Professor: Chelle Barnaby, M.S.
Location: Exact location in each area will be
determined and announced closer
to the date of the event.
What is provided to students: As part of
our Writing Intensive each student will receive a
manual, Intensive t-shirt, and other materials.

Mr. Landry,
"I have four
children. Two of them love to write and are naturals. Two of
them really don't care of for the subject AT ALL. To me, the
true test of a class is when you are send one of those
students who do NOT like a subject and are NOT naturally
inclined towards it. We did just that when we sent our 15
year old to the Writing Intensive with Mrs. Barnaby. The
results were beyond what we imagined. I actually sat in on
most of the sessions since I was a parent helper for the two
day period so I was able to see first hand how it all went."
"There was so much material covered
in those two days! Mrs. Barnaby has a wonderfully relaxed
and easy manner with teens. She immediately put them at ease
with stories of her own children. It was clear from the
beginning that she understood both those who love writing
and those who struggle. She made every exercise fun! For the
students who love humor, there was lots of it. For those who
love art, crafts, and creativity, there were contests for
dressing up notebooks. For those who want to learn a lot, so
much was covered! Prizes were given at every turn. Students
were encouraged in their participation and as they relaxed,
the laughter flowed."
"At night, there was a little
homework for the students to do before class the second day.
Some of this was optional. This is where I was SURE Mrs.
Barnaby was a miracle worker. My son was up until 12:30 am
writing and working on an optional assignment because he
WANTED to! What a breakthrough!"
"Not only did my son learn an
incredible amount of material, but he learned to enjoy
writing! It was a wonderful experience to break our routine,
get in a group, and study what can be a tough subject with
such a gifted teacher."
"Thank you, Mr. Landry! Thank you,
Mrs. Barnaby! Our lives are richer because of you!"

Are you wondering if your child's
writing stacks up?
Concerned that they started
writing too late?
Wondering if your child can
perform in the high
school years and on college entrance exams?
Unsure if they will succeed in
college level writing?
This intensive will take any 7th
through 12th grade student from unsure to secure in two
action-packed days.
This is a hands-on “lab” approach to
writing.
We’ll dissect the different types of
writing your student can expect to encounter throughout his
academic career.
Together, we’ll then construct model
writing projects from the ground up.
While focused on intensive
academics, creative students will be thrilled to hone their
fiction skills as well.
During these two active days we will
cover:
·
Nailing the ACT/SAT (and other) impromptu essays
·
Understanding the 5 paragraph essay model
·
Mastering the 6 Traits of writing
·
Writing across the curriculum
·
Finding your writing voice
·
Writing research papers
·
Fun with fiction
·
Technical writing for employment and academic achievement
·
Excellent editing skills

Struggling writers will be comfortable in this intensive!
I promise fun and exciting
exercises in a positive, supportive environment.
No matter what your writing level
coming in, you can leave secure in your abilities.
And to top it all off, I can
virtually guarantee at least one hand cramp!
Start exercising those finger
muscles, and join us so that college level writing leaves
you with no worries.

Suggested Student Grade Range: 6th - 12th
Professor: TBA
Location: Exact location in each area will be
determined and announced closer
to the date of the event.
What is provided to students: As part of
our Physical Science Lab Intensive each student will receive a
manual, Intensive t-shirt, safety glasses, all equipment and
materials needed, and two days of in-person instruction.

Physical Science is a combination of Chemistry and
Physics, but geared toward 7th through 9th graders (although
this Lab Intensive is open to 6th-12th graders), in
preparation for high school level Chemistry and Physics.
While it's a serious Lab Intensive and prepares students
well for upcoming sciences, there's also a "fun factor" to
this Lab Intensive.
These introductory type labs are designed to enable
students to understand basic principles of Chemistry and
Physics while showing them how fun science can be. :)
Students leave these two fun, but intense days, excited
about science!
Appropriate
background information is presented prior to and during each
lab that is performed. When taking Physical Science classes after attending our Lab Intensive, the
class material will be much easier to comprehend - because
they already understand the application of what they're
learning in classes. For students who have taken Physical
Science classes prior to our Lab Intensive, these labs
will bring their book knowledge to life.
- Students will also learn how to
prepare and critique college-quality lab reports
- Students will record their experiment data, graphs, etc.
